The concert will open with Transparency in which Carla, the dancers and the Dance Place staff will transform the studio into a performance space revealing what is behind the magic at Dance Place. The Dance Place Step Team, our resident youth company will collaborate with Carla & Company on Donna Kearney`s work, This Journey of Ours. The Step Team is a high energy precision group whose work will reveal the importance of Dance Place`s programs and the effect they have on the lives of young people.
This season, Carla & Company will premiere two new works, Songs From My Youth - Dances For Daddy and The Perfect World. The piece will feature songs that Carla grew up with and will be a glimpse into the kind of upbringing Carla enjoyed, reflecting on the joys and growing pains of childhood, adolescence and adulthood.
The second new work, The Perfect World, will be performed by dancers ranging from age
7-60 and will be a physical expression of a wish for a world where every child gets a quality education, everyone has a good doctor, the correct medicine, a home, clean water, enough food and clothing. Meetings and Journey will also be performed by the dancers of Carla & Company.
